I buy tinned prunes every week from Tes** for my MIL who at 92 has them daily and I'll leave it to your imagination as to why The well known brand (he say "yes") went up from £1.00 to £1.10 within a week, so I said we'd try their own brand which last week were 75p, as surely there couldn't be much difference. I've just been on line to order this week's delivery and said own brand are now 90p. As we say in Yorkshire - "how much ?"! I must say, I have noticed that there are lots of things going up on a weekly basis and it's very worrying. Had to share, sorry to rant

Agreed Florence, item prices are rising visibly every time I shop, and by 10p or 20p, not pennies. The Office of National Statistics puts RPI inflation as of December last at 7.4%, but I think food is going up by much more than that.Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.

This might be the year I get a dehydrator... Just the idea of prunes and I'm salivating. I had a look online, greenishfing, after you posted your comment. Looks feasible.

I only realised recently that prunes were dried plums - I was reading the label on a packet. Never gave it any thought before I suppose.
Apparently manufacturers have started calling prunes 'dried plums' in the US, as prunes have a negative press. Prune juice is not being renamed, as "Dried fruit juice would be a contradiction in terms, the industry was told by the Food and Drug Administration". Well, yes!Mostly flowers, some fruit and veg, at the seaside in Edinburgh.
