I'm not good with silence...! Too much space for thinking I'd rather have FTofNY 10 times a day than no noise

Looking forward to the 15th when my daughter's school is having a Carol Service in the beautiful CofE church. I know I'll have to pack lots of hankies - the kids singing always gives me a lump in the throat, but she's doing a solo this year so I'll be howling

awwwww bless, thats one thing i miss about rob being all growed up ...... i have to watch jeremy kyle during the day ........ makes me feel so 'normal' ....... if i do have any noise it's the telly, but i don't really notice the quiet, until i hear noises outside.

Oooh yes. I used to work in a book shop in quite a 'posh' area. I was always amused by the wags and furcoats humming along to the chorus whilst missing the verses.

Also have a soft spot for 'Walking in the winter wonderland' before it was mugged by TV adverts. The rhymes are clever.

Fairytale of New york for me too~thankfully I've never heard another version, but agree it would just be wrong!
Love carols as well. The only time of the year where I love popping to a local church.
1/2 excited & 1/2 dreading my boys nativity next week. We've been practising Away in....,& basically only get that far before he either gets the giggles or sings in a strange voice!..also he so hasn't got the hang of humming!!
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Kids singing Away in a manger always brings a tear to my eye.

switch to 'Absolute' radio, no repeats from 9-5 (how will they manage by only playing each chrimbo one only once )

my fav is Merry Christmas everyone by Shaky. very sad I know, and am partial to a sing-a-long to Mariah when in the car. (hate her other stuff with a passion - and no, I'm not gay )

You won't be surprised to hear that I've never heard of Fairytale of New York (being an Old F*rt!)

My very favourite is one that no-one's ever heard of - Behold a Simple Tender Babe.

But I'll settle for Maureen's fave - O Holy Night - or the Shepherds' Farewell by Berlioz. Traditional old biddy aren't I?
