My very favourite is one that no-one's ever heard of - Behold a Simple Tender Babe.

But I'll settle for Maureen's fave - O Holy Night - or the Shepherds' Farewell by Berlioz. Traditional old biddy aren't I?
Here comes another Old F*rt - Silent Night, Holy Night is my favourite! And I can sing it in the original German (we learnt at school back in the dark ages when there were dinosaurs at the bottom of the garden)

If we are going down the carols route, mine would be 'O little town of bethlehem. I'm a mellow one at heart.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

FTONY is my all time favourite. But for carols, the Coventry Carol always gives me goosebumps. Lots of carols will bring me to tears (but OH died just before Christmas, so that might have something to do with it).

...and said the red pairs mine!
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower

While shepherds washed their socks by night,
And hung them on the line,
The angel of the Lord came down,
And said 'Those socks are mine !

As shepherds washed their socks by night,
                  while watching ITV
the angel of the Lord came down
                  and turned to BBC

While Shepherds washed their socks by night,
                  All seated round the tub,
The Angel of the the Lord came down,
And gave them all a scrub.

While shephards washed their socks by night,
                  all seated on the bank..
The angel of the lord came down
and taught them how to **** erm wash stuff...

That used to make me cry when our big lad - now 33 - was a few month old. Softy eh?

I LOVE all the christmas songs! Fairy tale is my all time fave, just so jolly and unchristmassy at the same time!

Shirl, think a 'christmas' song gets put onto christmas albums if it was no1 on christmas day, hence Stay Another Day East 17. Doesn't necessarliy have to be about christmas.

I was just thinking to myself yesterday that there are no new christmas songs anymore. Is it cos they are just too cheesy?!

                          janeyo

I quite like the 'can you stop the cavalry, bom bom bom bom bom, bom bom bom bo bom, wish I was at hoooooome for christmas, la la la la la la la la la la la, la la la la la la la la la la la la laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
and I will even listen to Bony M if it's the christmas one!

Drives OH bonkers, he hates them all except Fairy Tale
