I used to work for the man whos web site that is, now i work with him, they are both lovely people

Well many many years ago we must have had trees as we have an abundance of peat, but the scientists think that was when we broke off from Africa. There's not many trees really, some in town that have been planted, but they always lean away from the wind.

It can be very windy so my pumpkins are not doing so good!

Normally root crops i think, but i am willing to give anything ago, so if it works i will be pleased if it don't then no worries, cant beat mother nature.

All mined areas are fenced off, but a poor cow did get blown up because it go through a fence. There all over the place, you just get used to them

I must go to bed, i have managed to keep myself occupied for long enough now, really need to sleep...

    Night everyone

Camping in Goose Green? I did that many years ago, slightly different conditions to your lad though!
Sure he's having a wonderful time, I remember mine disappearing off and having great times with their mates. Come home tired and filthy but full of the trip they'd been on.
Always a bit sad for folks when they go, but its only 4 days mummy, he'll be back before you know it.

Only a couple of days left to go W2S! Ours used to go off on school trips from age 7, the first year my youngest went was a disaster, a couple of the girls (twins) were completely homesick, couldn't cope at all and eventually came home. Of course it was quite catching and a few others were very weepy. When she came home I asked my daughter if she'd been at all homesick (we never heard a word from her whilst she was away!). She looked at me quite seriously and explained that of course she was homesick, everyone gets homesick, but if you just wait it goes away and you have a great time! Amazing kid, amazing, resilient and independent, young woman now! I know we suffer more than they do, but the benefits to them are huge!
Life is too short for drama & petty things!

Well today was hard, i woke up this morning and nearly burst into tears On the plus side the days are getting less!

Just went out to check on the garden, and i do think i have lost one pumpkin plant but i planted 7 on the basis that i might loose some. Its a lovely day here today, but we do still have some wind.

My little man will be so pleased when he gets home because his radish plants are doing really well.

Both me and my hubby have booked of Friday afternoon so that we can pick him up when he gets back into town, so that will be nice.

I might post some more photos tonight if your interested, it seems to pass the time really well, and chatting on here definitely helped

Hi Bridie, its a small world isn't it Every year we have a pilgrimage for service men who were there when we needed them, some even stayed or came back.

Right i am just about to put some more pic up.

The first and second one is the view out of the front of my house.
The third one is the bypass road and the last one is looking down Philomel Hill (Might remember this one from 82)

What really gets me apart from the views is the crispness and freshness of your pictures. Not sure how to say it but your pictures seem to give the feeling of fresh clean air and a lack af air pollution with the clarity of the pictures .
Keep the pictures coming would love to see more of the islands from an islanders point of view.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

                      Morning.

Bridie i did reply last night to your last post but it all went missing is cyberspace! Anyway what i was saying was it is a lovely view, but as you can imagine we are very exposed here because this is a new house we don't have fences all round yet and when the wind picks up we know it especially when getting out of the vehicle and walking round the house!

Beefy, the air is very clean, we don't have smog, the sky is clear during the day and at night because we also don't have light pollution. Back in the 80's many more people had peat as their heating source and the air would be heavy with peat smoke. Not now though everyone uses Kero or diesel heating. OR i am just a very good photographer!! Those last ones were taken from inside my moving vehicle

Actually though we are very close to the hole in the ozone which is not so good, getting sun burnt is a problem because it can happen very quickly and in my experience can be bad.

                        Hello there!
                        Lovely pictures w2s!
I hadn't really thought much about the Ozone hole affecting you, so I've been doing a bit of Googling..and found this from NASA..I'd no idea it moved about so much!!!!

Do you need to keep an eye on it or just slap on suncream assuming you're going to burn...or what???

Hi Nicos, wow look at that, it really does move loads doesn't it!

The main problem is the effects it has on the weather conditions, as there's not much between us and Antarctica. But strange as it sounds if the UK get a good summer we normally do to (cant work that one out myself!) One year we had a massive rouge Iceberg floating just inside the zone!

In the morning (i am just listening to the radio now) we get a weather forecast. We get told all the normal bits, and we get told what the sun burn risk is and also the "Sheep Chill Factor" at this time of year. Its shearing time you see.

One year we went camping, and without out a word of a lie, by the time i had put the tent down and packed stuff away my shoulders were burnt so bad, then they carried on burning on the trip home through a window. By the time i got it looked at i was in shock, it had blistered so bad and weeping, i was shaking and couldn't sleep etc. It took ages to heal I have always been very careful since then. But even when i am gardening, my ears get burnt (i have short hair) and my lower back gets burnt because the wind blows my top up leaving a builders bum exposed!!!!

that stuff on the ozone layer was really interesting, i didn't realise it moved! you live in a lovely area w2s, i envy you to a degree, but i hate winter here so don't think i would stand much chance where you are. keep the pics coming though.
