i've never eaten goose, maybe i could hatch one for next year ...... mind you, we don't do anything spectacular for new year, usually have pizza or something lol
we had goose last year, very nice too, although, we had breast fillets cos my lovely butcher said it would work out cheaper cos of the waste on a big bird when there is only 3 of us.
this year we are having venison, we try to have a new meat ( for the boys) every year, so they get to taste things other than chicken which is usually all we can afford any other time.
next year we are going to have pheasant.
Blimey, my missus will want goosing well before then Piskie.

Oh, a GOOSE Piskie, I see now. I hope to bag some duck during the holiday and will serve them with plum sauce.
We're 'avin Goose for Christmas this year - all booked. Had a three bird roast last year - lot of faff and not as great as you'd hope.
I must say, we always have TWO roasts for xmas day, not cos we are greedy, but boxing day is scrabble (curried bubble and squeak) and cold meat day, so i like a choice of cold meat.
as we are having venison steaks, there wont be any leftovers, so i will do a chicken, and a ham on xmas eve, so we have a selection for boxing day.
Ah now...this Xmas should be fun back in the Uk....my oven has finally packed in...the combi oven/microwave sometimes only works with the oven ( is tiny and is hormonal) and we have a small microwave.
There should be 7 of us for most of the week..oh and only 3 of my 4 hob rings work!!!
..in case you are wondering why it's all naff.....if we sell the house, then it can stay as it is. If we rent the house, we'll buy cheap and cheerful replacements..and if we move back to the Uk, we'll buy top of the range again...choices..choices!!!!

I had Goose last year, and very nice it was, but at £50 for a medium bird I didn't think it was as good as that. For the same money I could have a leg of top quality lamb, a couple of Gressingham ducks, some venison and a pheasant for a game pie.
I know which way I'm doing it this year.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
Nicos, you have my sympathy on the cooker front.
We just moved into this house last February and the kitchen needs totally replacing.
There was no cooker at all and we didn't want to spend until we decided what we wanted to do with the kitchen - so have been managing with a Baby Belling (2 rings and oven) and a microwave.
But manage we have - some good food's come out of that kitchen.
The new kitchen goes in January - and I'll have my luxury range cooker. Can't wait.
But in the meantime there's Christmas. Not worried - the cooking will all happen - even if I have to get the BBQ out.
