Can things get worse?

Today is possibly one of the saddest days for me. This morning our little dog, Quincey, lost his fight for life. He was 14, and in GREAT health...only he stole some 70% chocolate and paid the ultimate price for it.

At 5.45 this morning he died, most probably of heart failure due to toxic shock!

We're all distraught - he was such a HUGE part of our family, and now he's gone. I know this may seem silly to lots of people....but he was much more than just a dog...he was our family.

Why does everything happen at once - it feels right now that life can't get worse.



Take heed - make sure your dog can't access any chocolate over these next couple of weeks!!

I feel so sorry for you. There are dog owners and dog lovers. You and your family are clearly the latter.

I feel so sorry for you and it still surprises me that a lot of people don't that chocolate is poisonous to dogs.

So sorry to read your sad news. I totally understand that a dog is much more than 'just a dog'. Try to take comfort in knowing that he made a good age and that he was well looked after and loved.

I lost my Molly just over four months ago to cancer. She was less than four years old. I was devastated.

Oh Bephlam, what a horrible thing to happen - but you can see from his picture how much joy he must have brought and I hope remembering the good times will be of some comfort in easing the Quincey shaped hole he's left.

It's the theobromine which is poionous to dogs, doggie chocs have it removed.

I am sorry for your loss. There are a lot of things o.k. for us but not dogs, apple pips, grapes, avacado to name a few.

So sorry you have lost a much loved dog. My son's dog eats anything and everything he shouldnt, we have to be very carefull when he is around. He once ate all the mince pie's my sons flat mate had made for a works party.

Thank you for the alert that chocolate is that poisonous to dogs - I have had dogs all my life and never knew it was that bad for them. Didn't know about grapes being bad for them either - so everyone be wary DON'T LET YOUR DOG EAT YOU!!!
