I think it is clear from the replies already, that this is not a matter of something to hide, but a lack of trust in the government to keep this information safe.

if the government want to know something about you, trust me, they already can, but ID cards and DNA printing makes it easier and more centralised, good for them, good for the police, and good for us IF!!........... it is secure.

am I for it? yes definitley, especially ID cards, are we ready for it? no, not until the security required is airtight.
