  • Reasons to be Cheerful

OK, I know we've had a similar thread earlier in the week, but what events are really going to make your weekend? Mine are:

Saturday: I have Christmas presents to wrap. Being a disorganised last minute shopper this is something of a miracle and suddenly the festive season is looking a lot less stressful than normal.

Sunday; Taking Grandson to see Santa and the Christmas lights. I don't normally do McDonalds, but I'm feeling so good I might even run to a Happy Meal.

    But biggest and by far the best is;

Tonight: Our youngest child's 20th birthday party. This means that we are officially no longer the parents of TEENAGERS! Yipeeeeeeeeee!!!!! We survived!!!
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I'm going to Newcastle to meet up with a friend that I haven't seen for nearly ten years! Staying there until Monday. Will miss my kitty and man, but it'll be fab to see her again! We got back in ttouch via Bookface.

Got some lovely sausages from a local butcher, having them with chips for tea.
Going to see Dad and my 2 sisters tomorrow. Taking 'the dress' over to dad's house so he can look after it for me! Seeing sisters just for the fun of it.
Helping Lauren wrap her present for Steve tonight. Gave her the money yesterday and she chose it all by herself
Got a late shift Sun, but thats usually a pretty nice day on the ward.

I've had lots of people discussing my underwear, or in some cases lack of. Very exciting for me. On a slight downer, all the chocolate I packed for me for xmas day, er um has been eaten.
Got fresh milk in today for the first time since I came back, and was told that I will be having a fridge delivered from Khartoum so I can even keep the stuff cold. That, ladies and gentleman, is truly great news.

It's our wedding anniversary today, so posh-nosh and too much vino (for a change, not!).

Collecting shed tomorrow so my 'ladies' can have more room; now they have feathers they don't need to sleep quite so close together (and a bigger coop means I can rescue some more chooks)!

Other than that, housework and planning my veg garden for next year. Oh and mucking out, including 4 for a friend who's away for the weekend, and who's lazy moo of a daughter won't help!

Maybe I'll lose some weight (PMSL).

Just read back over it and it sounds like a really boring weekend dunnit?

Only 15 days to the shortest day - then the days get longer and longer.
OH has just started a 7 week sabbatical (only 4 days unpaid - that's how hard he has been working)
I've cooked ribs in the slow cooker - stiiicckkyyy
We are buying the tree tomorrow, early but I need to feel christmassy.
I've made one of the two handbags I need to make for christmas presents.
I know who my secret santa pal is and can go shopping.
I've just drunk half a bottle of champagne celebrating the sabbatical.

What's your sticky ribs recipe Nell, that's something I could cope with and earn brownie points from Chef!

As for Secret Santa, obviously I now know who I'm buying for, but I'm sh*ttin' myself that I won't find something fab for £2.50. I know the sender is kept secret, but all the same...

Cooking my OH Omelette Tourangelle with fresh crusty bread this evening (she's feeling a bit low as she bumped her car today) Tomorrow I am taking my son and four of his mates paintballing (for his 18th which was on Tuesday) Sunday my daughter is in a show , so we will go to that and the cook dinner in the evening, all in all a great weekend. (still no job though )
