  • Hooray! Great to have you back with us Sarah
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

              • Yay, she's back!
So, how did you break your ankle? You weren't drunked? Did you kick someone/something?
Have you now got a bionic foot?

                Anyway, welcome home.

I was crossing the road outside our house, into the mouth of a small side road. The grit had half melted the ice there and then it had re-frozen into sheet ice. My foot shot out and round and crunched, as I was halfway up in the air I could see that it was pointing the wrong way... Then I landed... On it I screamed. A lot... My poor 8 year old daughter was with me, and managed to hold it together to run and get her dad, bless her. The neighbours came out in droves to help too, with blankets and phones for ambulance etc. I was laid on the icy road for over 20 minutes though, and was nearly hypothermic and in shock by the time I got to the hospital. Got through the ambulance's full tank of gas & air before I got any morphine. And one shot still wasn't enough to get an X-ray, had to have another and a temporary cast on before they could do it without me screaming my head off... Anyway, it was all explained once the X-rays were done - I've broken both sides of my ankle, and the tibia (shin bone) right through near the bottom AND fractured at the top
So they had to fasten me back together, and I now have a half horshoe shaped plate holding my ankle together and a straight plate fastening the bottom of the tibia together... It's going to take a wee while to mend

Yeowch (or something). Has the pain gone down a bit now that they have straightened it out?

                            • Bit late getting to this one, but I'm glad to hear you're at back at home now. Blimey, you don't do things by halves do you, what a battering your poor ankle got ! Yup, as you say, it'll be a wee while sorting itself out..... Just you take care of yourself now (why do I hear Miss Ellie from Dallas as I write that?!).
