It looks like a cultivated poppy.

We only have bog-standard wild poppies. Doesn't look like ours, so I was sceptical it could be a poppy. But have a look at Peony Poppies, see what you reckon.

Definitely a poppy, looks like the opium poppy type I have at the lottie, that greyish green foliage is very distinctive.

How on earth has this happened I haven't heard of any Opium Poppy fields around Warwickshire, wow that has come a a bit of a shocker. I'll still have a look like SP said and thanks for your input matey.

They usually produce purple flowers and there is indeed a "Naughty" variety grown overseas.

We used to see them dotted around plots on our first allotment site too.
                Very pretty flowers.
The foliage is lovely isn’t it?

I did goooogle to see if they are actually illegal to grow- as I noticed there seem to be lots of different and very pretty colours available. The RHS actually sell the seed so I guess if they are selling them then they can’t be!

                  Geoff.
Hahaha, you can see a few in the attached pic from my lottie. Variety is called Lauren's Grape which sounds very innocent....or perhaps that's deliberate to throw us off the scent! Seriously though, I have no idea if the opium poppies we can buy seeds for have any narcotic content. Don't intend to investigate either! (excuse the horestail, not weeded that bed for a while!)
