Clothes are for protection (not only from cold) or to avoid upsetting people. No reason to wear anything at other times. When we are in Spain OH almost never wears anything around the place unless it is cold. I often wear nowt but an outsize T-shirt (to protect from sunburn). I do have rather a lot of 'internal insulation' these days.......

Hmm - I know they say 'If you've got it, flaunt it.' But I think I've got a little too much to flaunt nowadays.

I agree though, that clothes are protection - they hold everything in, and protect it from tripping me over

Us too. But we were either out at school all day, or else running round like banshees. No time to be cold!
And we were put to bed straight after dinner, so no time to be sitting round getting cold.

I've just tested my kitchen/workroom, cos my hands and nose are icy ... it's only 15C out there, and a nearly-cosy 18C here in the sitting room. That's as warm as it gets.

I can remember when I was younger (6-12years) having a quarter of an inch of ice on the inside of my bed room window in winter.
I sure got dressed quickly in the morning.

18 is good, i try to keep mine to that , the thermostat is set at 18 and i only turn it up later in the evening when it gets really cold, even then just for an hour, i am kinda lucky being mid-terrace, my neighbours heating keeps me warm

11pm it gets turned back down to 10 for the night, i go to bed when i start getting cold, back up to 18 at midday when the sun has moved round, on sunny mornings we don't need it cos the kitchen is well warm which spreads into the hallway and lounge.

i do however own a pair of fingerless gloves cos i cant type when my hands get cold .

I was thinking about Jack Frost patterns only this morning when I had to scrape the ice from my van windscreen to get home. Lovely whirls and ferns as I remember and we too would huff on the window to make a spy-hole!
I don't remember ever feeling cold though but I think that may be down to the warm blood of youth as my grandsons don't feel the cold even on the most frozen of days!!
Nights, of course, were spent cuddled into the warm back of an elder sister. I felt sorry for only children or those who only had brothers, in fact I felt a bit superior to them, older sisters were the epitome of security!!

Always have the fingerless gloves to hand during the winter.

BTW did anyone else hear the weather forecaset on Radio 4 last night about 9pm? The announcer finished an otherwise perfectly serious broadcast with the words

"It will be cold, because it's winter"
