I was in there on sunday and it was up to 50% off and it was TOTAL chaos. Like the place had been looted. There were people pushing and shoving and stuff all over the floor and people had taken stuff out of boxes and left it on the floors, and things like children's clothes and dressing up gear were being trampled all over.
I might take a wander down town tomorrow. If its too mad I just won't bother going in. Only want to browse for stocking fillers for pickle and a secret santa for a colleague.
well ours is only a small one, we did pop in first day of the sale, but as you say, it was actually quite sickening to watch, i am all for getting something cheap, but i felt like a hyena, so we grabbed one box of games for xmas day and that was it, left the rest to be torn over by the mob.
I shall go down tomorrow, but if its mad in there i shant go in.there is nothing i NEED.
I don't think so, its usual practice when the administrators can't find a buyer to sell off stock, particularly branded stock ( the 'worth it' stuff).
expensive stuff may be pulled back and sold to firms who buy up liquidation stock, so dont be surprised it you can't buy a flat screen tv half price although you may well be able to, depends . the administrators no need to make as much money from the stock held, this time of year is a good time do do it.

Sorry I'm the eternal cynic why does it never happen to a shop that has something I want?
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

thats why i felt so bad even being in there, the staff all looked so worn down.
lets just hope if it does close, and there is still some hope, that they will make enough to give the staff decent redundancy payments.
Sorry, latest news is they aren't getting enhanced company redundancy payments - only statutory ones. So, the people who have been there 15-20 years, will get the same as people who have only recently joined.
I haven't used woolies for years, they lost their way yonks ago. But, once again, we have a situation where they sold off their assets [in that properties they owned] and now pay huge rents...and the management that sold them off are long gone.
