Mrs Go-4it headed to the kitchen to check how breakfast was coming along. The chef was singing happily to himself and the food smelled amazing. He was even better than his references promised. No doubt he would have a drawback: A drunk? A womaniser? An axe murderer? But it was not in evidence yet.

There were two rather tiddly looking guests sitting under the large kitchen table who insisted that they could not move. Looking at them she was hardly surprised.

A group of the most unlikely looking bake off contestants ever were gathered at reception. Their first ordeal would be to make a dozen perfect sausage rolls each. She had a feeling that a couple of the more unlikely contestants would be resorting to frozen pastry with bought sausages inside. In fact she could even see a Gregg's bakery bag poking out of a large handbag......

Bramble signed in as she hadnt realised The Gardeners Rest had opened....She didnt drink coffee, do she ordered a cup of tea...She had to clap her hands very loudly before she could get the waiters attention....I'm not sure we have any tea he said. Just let me go and see....

Do you want a nip of something in that tea Bramble? Nicos and I are just trying to find a hairy dog, but I can flag down a waiter for you.

Snoop was feeling a bit cautious. A nip from a hairy dog did not sound ideal. But maybe she'd got the wrong end of the stick. It wouldn't be the first time. Bramble was looking altogether better than Snoop felt. She decided she might go for tea for breakfast tomorrow. Maybe there was something in the coffee. But snacks on the house sounded interesting. She wondered how they got them on the roof. Oh, she was definitely feeling a bit squiffy and couldn't quite get her thoughts together.

Maybe she'd go for a lie-down. A bit of B&B (bed and blanket) to ready herself for the fun and games to come...

I hope there's not going to be any funny business with the Scrabble, mothhawk should be watched carefully, she may have an unfair advantage.

Nicos had spotted the Cluedo !…her most favourite board game.
Nothing like a good mystery she said to herself.
And , of course, there’s nothing like Christmas as a time of mystery, magic and fun - especially if accompanied by pigs in blankets and a rather large glass of fizz!

As the last few drinkers were draining their glasses blue flashing lights could be seen outside the front door. All eyes were on it when Mrs Go-4it stumbled in accompanied by two policemen.

"I need brandy" she said "Just give me the bottle. I've just spent three hours in A & E with four of the contestants who went foraging for mushrooms earlier, managed to poison themselves, and have just had their stomachs pumped. Hopefully they'll be back tomorrow."

She collapsed in a big easy chair. " These contestants will be the death of me, and they haven't even started cooking in earnest
yet!" She headed for the stairs .... brandy bottle in hand.
