  • A Winter Dictionary

That's the title of a book I got from the library this morning. it's full of forgotten, unusual, and archaic winter words, so I shall give you a word a day to bamboozle, fascinate, and inform

Two words today, to start it off:

Abliguration (noun) - I'm sure some of us will be guilty of this in the countdown to Christmas.

Moble (verb) - I expect some of us do this, too.

Have a guess at the meaning (but no googling!)

Definitions and a new word tomorrow.

Abliguration: the act of undoing a button or zip to relieve the pressure on your waistband after eating too much.

Moble: adjective to describe skirt or trousers travelling downwards after button or zip undone.

            Great thread, MH. Thanks.

Love the guesses! Ithink Nicos was closest with abliguration - profligate spending on food and drink.

To moble is to dress in multiple layers of clothing to keep warm.

Today's random offering is snerdle (verb). I'm pretty sure GF snerdles a lot.

Jurpit - to swear that you haven't been going through the heap of presents to try and work out what they are.

(As you can tell, I haven't got the foggiest idea, but my heart did leap and my mouth did smile when I saw you'd posted again this morning, MH.)
