To cruelly rotate one's middle finger knuckle in another's rib cage, especially as used in sibling rivalry.

          Good guesses, one and all.

Powl is actually a mid 19thC word that means to leave work early in order to go to the alehouse. If you are powling, you're neglecting work and drinking.

Today's bon mot is boun (verb).

                Oh…how exciting!
                I clearly love to boun…

I ‘love to’ loads of things at this time of year….urmmmm, I’ll go with….

                urmmmm….

                sounds like bounding….

Enthusiastically running around in anticipation ?
                or
Stuffing one’s face with gingerbread and other seasonal delights?
Yeh…I’ll go with the latter.I particularly enjoy doing that!
