That's the trouble with you techie types. I have no idea what your talking about. I read the link and the advice from microsoft. May as well be written in chinese for all the good it did me. For me to benefit from this information I would need one of you to come round here and fix the problem for me.
Hope they sort out one of those 'patch' things soon. I think the computer gets updates automatically. Not something I organised you understand, just something else that the computer does that I don't understand.
Snadger, consider yourself well and truly hurrumphed.
I read it, couldnt understand it, came back to the thread, couldnt understand that either.
I'm sure if my computer explodes one of the clever techy types will be able to fix it though.

Life's disappointments are so much harder to take if you don't know any swear words.
its not a problem thats going to blow your pute up, what it is is a HOLE, which lets criminals get into your usage, they can garner passwords you use and what for etc, every time you use IE7 they can track what you are doing, send you to a site to get a virus, or virus a site you visit via your pute.
you dont have to do anything other than stop using IE7 for now, use firefox or google chrome, both are free and SAFER, take seconds to download and install ( of course you have to use IE for this, but once you have, don't use it again)
Microsoft are going to bring a patch out as soon as possible, this will be downloaded via your usual updates, once its in, and confirmed it works, then it will be 'relatively' safe to use IE7 again, although its never been considered very safe from the get go by most 'techies'
do not, try to uninstall IE, that WILL break your pute, and it is required to have it installed to run the microsoft updates.
just use a different browser until we get the all clear.
I dont understand either and dont even know if I use IE7, leave that stuff up to Ro! I'll talk to him later - in the office we've all just checked our security setting is at high ..... if I disappear I guess you'll know why!
But thanks for the heads up anyhoo Bride
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance
ok that is easy, if you click on a big blue circular E to connect to the internet, thats IE7.
if its an orange planet its firefox, some providers like aol have their own browser.
easier way to tell is at the top of your browser where it says file/edit etc there should be a help option, it will say 'about internet explorer' in there, which will tell you which version you are running.
it should also say right at the very top of the browser screen on the right hand side (or left )which browser you are using.
