no problem, just got in quick for our 'less techie' peeps

tabbed browsing was what i first loved about firefox, then IE7 nicked the idea, now it seems to be standard across browsers, makes ebay bidding a doddle

firefox wiill ask you when you close the browser, if you want it to open the same pages next time you use it.
google chrome has a cool bit where you can add your most used bookmarks to the top bar.

Can't you just see the 'e' icon on the 'open window' on your taskbar (down the bottom, usually)?

I can see a row of Internet Explorers on mine, oh and a little 'orange ball' for firefox.

usually yes, but some providers use IE and its more difficult to tell, so the bit you are talking about might say 'BT' for instance? thats when you need to loook in the 'about' bit to see what exactly is being used.

most stand alone browsers do advertise them as you say, as long as you know where to look, you would be surprised how many people don't notice.

Personally I don't think that anyone who has a 'personalised' browser from their ISP and doesn't know what it is should be encouraged to change browsers. They will only get into trouble when it comes to updating Microsoft stuff/Internet Explorer.

Afterall the item was talking about 'gaming passwords' being 'stolen' at present, and just theorized about what might happen if anything else was hacked.

adding a new browser will not effect microsoft upgrades in anyway whatsoever, as long as it is still installed, it doesn't need to be opened or used for updates to be downloaded from microsoft and installed in the usual way.

none has to use the browser installed on their machine by their ISP, its just there for convenience.

                      Yes, I'm liking that.
What I'm not liking is it's forgotten all my passwords (so have I)

if you had them stored in IE it should have tracked them over? although i have know firefox to fail doing that.

I just looked, and it is indeed IE7 (naughty, hiding behind a BT Yahoo icon)

Just installed, it asked me if I wanted to port over from IE7 and it did, no hassles ....hmmm did advanced install ... maybe that's why I was asked?

I knew some did, just not which ones, i have never used ISP browsers, mainly cos they are rubbish.
Frankly i LOVE IE7 , but i am well aware of the security issues in using it, this latest one is not the first, and i doubt it will be the last.

Firefox is still the best security based browser out there, the only one the boys are allowed to use, i have as many as possible installed because as a website designer and builder i have to be able to check anything i build works in all browsers.
