Maybe this forum IS the cure and if i make the effort to spend a little more time in the fold then i will see the light again.

Wait til spring Minty and see how you feel. If the get up and go doesn't come back then you can hand it over to someone else and grow on a smaller scale.
At the moment I can't be bothered with the garden - too cold and dark - but come January I'll have itchy planting fingers and by February I'll be in full flight.
Well that's the way it's always been.

Hi Alice, the wait till spring thing seems to be a popular one. I will try that.

I know just how you are feeling! Come Spring though you will start leafing through your gardening books, browse a few seed catalogues and heave yourself up to make a start.
My advice would be, do a little at a time, maybe two or three feet a day and on the days you really can't face it read your gardening books again!
                  Good luck!!

I feel like this too, added to the uncertainty of wherther or not I am keeping my plot. The company that owns the land should have asked for rent at the end of Oct and they haven't yet
I did ring to ask and was told that he was fairly sure they would ask for rent and not to worry, but I can't help it.
Got loads to do, the weather's crap, and I really struggled this year, next year just frightens the pants off me!!
I'm scared to get excited and make plans in case we do lose the allotments.

Their were two stages to developing my plots. The first stage involved a vision of how I wanted them to look.

Now I have basically fulfilled that dream of an easy to maintain plot by the use of a 'potager' type layout my design skills are over and I go into the maintenance stage.
Most people enjoy 'creating' something new but after that the mundane task of maintaining it doesn't appeal as much.................it's human nature Minty.
Luckily, there's always little tweaks you can do that can utilises creativity and as such keeps the interest going.
Go and change something at the lottie, a bed size? build a cold frame? make a raised bed? get some chooks?...........anything......... to keep the interest going!

                          It'll soon be spring!

Minty, hope you manage to find that enthusiasm again!!I'm sure it is a case of the winter blues.....& let's face it we haven't really had a Summer since the last lot of winter blues to fully recharge our batteries!...I've decided that after a couple of carp Summers, that this next one is gonna be something great....we must be owed months of glorious sunshine & perfect growing conditions....don't throw it all away just yet....like you said...you'll only probably regret it come spring!Hang in there!x

Hi Minty,I think you'll be fine once the new season comes around. You know you aren't alone in your thoughts and enthusiasm. At this time of the year, with short days and cold temperatures, its not easy. I've done a few different activities, and always at sometime or another wonder why and if it worth the effort.I really think it is best not to dwell on what you feel or think now. Have Christmas and New Year, then slowly start back, a little at a time, without pushing yourself, and, consider what you have done, not what still needs doing.

I have had my plot for just over a year and I had so much enthusiasm going at first. I was there nearly every day doing something, now I only go once a week if I feel like it, and then I might just take a look make sure everything is ok and come home. I think its the weather that puts me off. Most days are cold and dark or too wet, so one day of not going becomes two or three or more, then you loose the will to be bothered. I know come spring when and if the sun shines I will be back down there as much as I can. I also feel guilty when I do get there if I have left my OH and daughter at home cos they dont want to come with me but thats their choice. Sometimes I get scared at the thought of what I have taken on.
Hope you are ok and dont worry about it.
