Loosing interest in growing my own and dont know why.

I agree with Sluglobber - an iPod is a wonderful bit of company if you've got work to do on your own, and it makes the time fly.

Mine's full of music now, but previously I listened to all the Harry Potter Audio Books on mine - and can thoroughly recommend them!

Other than that, spend a bit of time and make a planner/diary, so you know what jobs need doing and when, then you can pace yourself, and think of them individually instead of as one big job.

That's what I'm doing, because I'm probably the least motivated person I know. If I didn't have Hens to feed, Dog to walk, Neds to muck-out, I'd stay in bed 'til noon!

So reassuring that others feel the same, finally ordered my seed. Have only just unpacked it and have not done my planting plan yet which in previous years was done in Nov at the latest. Went out to the greenhouse todat for the 1st time in 2 weeks and it is only next to the house. Did not finish my winter digging now my plot is like the Somme. But picked some sprouts for xmas yesterday (early but only chance) and on the big day will eat them and think yes im now ready for next year. Its the season to be jolly but not to garden just go with it i am

Exactly! Beyond noon, really. I'd be twenty stone and barely able to tackle the stairs if I didn't have ponies!

Thank you all so much. As wrong as this might sound it is comforting to know others are feeling the same as myself......have i put that right.
To now know its quite normal to feel a bit "can`t be bothered" this time of year has strangely made me feel a little more positive.
Today I have collected the remaining french and runner beans and chillies from the allotment and have put them to dry ready for next year.
Question though, as the beans have seen a few frosts would it affect them for growing next year ?????.

You could try sprouting one or two to check Minty - chuck them away as shoots or have a go at growing a really early plant if you like - nothing to lose either way.

Hi Shirl,Hope you are well, yeah it`s the only way of finding out really. I might chuck a couple of chili seeds in aswell and if they succeed keep them as an indoor plant.

Welcome to the 'i cant be @ssed season LOL!
I have a very deep yearning to sow seeds but the plot is pretty much sorted and not a great deal left to do, always something and we are replacing all the edging boards but nothing to really get the juices flowing
My gardens at home need work doing on them, i look, i think, i walk away till another day !!
Over xmas we will get the greenhouses sorted out and ready to roll and the chillies and first toms will go in and i find the sight of the first shoots popping up trigger the get up and gooooooooooooo
I love the planning over winter and the realisation i dont have 10 acers to plant up comes as a shock every year LOL
You will fall in love with your lotie all over again soon Minty

Good luck with them Minty and let us know how they go. our garden is too soggy to go out in at all. Have to walk up it a few times a day to tend the chooks or it would be left to itself for a while yet!
