Just been filling the envelopes for giving out to 'service providers' (postman etc.) wishing them a happy Christmas. Worked out it's costing me £55.00.
my postman always gets something, cos he is brilliant.
must admit i don't do it for the dustmen, reason being they are mostly temps, and are different every week.
EX used to be a dustman full time, and they don't always share the tips with the temps, so nope, sorry.
I usually give the milkman a couple of cans of beer...& this year we have a nice postie so will prob do the same for him...sometimes I feel a bit tight not giving them money, but to be perfectly honest we can't afford a fiver & I'd feel really patronising giving them an envellope with just a couple of quid in.
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx
first and second one cos they are on poor wages due to the fact their employers know tips make it up. ( silly really, but that's the way it works, they even get taxed on their tips and this will be guessed at if they don't declare them)
taxi drivers i DON'T get, its daylight robbery most of the time anyway, i still do it tho?
I hadn't thought about giving the delivery people tips. The milkchap has even come at night with the xmas gifts I ordered as he didn't want to leave them on the doorstep in the daytime. Nice I thoguht. Trouble is I can't really aford money either as have TOO many family to buy for. Got some out of date beer, wonder if he's notice? But some days I don't get the milk til half 9 and we have brekkie at half 7...... so out of date beer may be appropriate!
I'll give a boxing day tip to the postie - cos he's brilliant
and the bin men - cos they're stars.
I always tip my hairdresser because I feel I have to.
I tip in restaurants because it's the done thing.
I NEVER tip taxi drivers because they won't even get out of the cab to open a door and they charge plenty anyway.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
I dont tip anybody I am mean. I give the hairdressers a box of chocs to share at christmas and thats it. We dont eat out very often but leave a tip if we do. We dont use taxis we are lucky enough to live near the town so we walk home if we go out. Any further and one of us stays sober or we stay over. Never have the same postie two days running and no longer have a milkman.
Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
and ends with backache
I will tip the postie as I've done all the shopping on the internet and he's great and will leave parcels where I ask. Childminder gets booze as she probably needs it!
I've done quite well myself, lots of wine and some cash!
I'm lying in wait for the nice postman so I can give him a bottle of wine. Haven't seen him all week though. I think he's actually taken the week off so he doesn't have to deliver the 4,000 packages from my internet shopping.
