  • Member of the month

Please can some one tell me how you become member of the month. I dont seem to have seen what you have to do to become it. Just interested.

You don't have to "do " anything. It's awarded by the moderators and the owners of the site to a person who has engaged with the forum by answering questions and generally being helpfull . Some get it for their sense of humor . It's more about what the member has done for the forum rather than a checklist that if you do this , this and this you get MOM.
Basicly its recognition from the powers that be that you are the kind of person that they want to have here.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

Theres a list of the first two years . Maybe the mods could update it.(When they have a spare minute that is)

Didn't realise it had been running so long - I always thought it was a tribute to Supersprout.

edit - If you want to know what MOM is about do a search for all of Supersprouts posts and read the quality of advice given and the friendly way it was given. I'm sure nobody here would disagree - the best MOM ever and an example to all of us.

I totally agree with beefy and piglet...........supersprout was certainly an inspiration to me as well as others and offered a workable 'alternative' way to veg gardening which I still use to this day wherever possible! She is sorely missed.

I wasn't around these parts when Supersprout was here, but I do still regularly read her section under 'growing tips' and it's been a huge inspiration since the day I decided to put my name down for a lottie.

were a big part in the inspiration of my pressure canning dreams I thought of Supersprout when I finally got one in the summer, but I still haven't managed to grow enough beans to make beautiful jars full of them like that... This year maybe

She was certainly inspirational to a lot of early members, and gets a regular mention, especially when talking about No-Dig gardening and bean growing

Supersprout was also a great help to me although she had sadly left before I ever "spoke" to her.
On a similar vein (and without wanting to make him blush) Geordie's missives on fruit and veg growing were hugely helpful to me.
MOM is always a deserved title wherever it goes, even if the banner can be a bit late in arriving sometimes.

Life's disappointments are so much harder to take if you don't know any swear words.
