Noooooo physical threats, just promise to find out where the mudpatch is and raid all of your plants Watch out for mad (and probably lost) Glaswegian in a Citroen Zsara. You've been warned!
You know you can do it, coz you've done it twice! You just need to suss out what it is that makes you start again, and find a coping mechanism. No nagging required
What I need to be able to quit is a no questions asked supply of patches. No having to see a Practice Nurse, no "How are you Coping?" sessions, no group therapy, no fuss. But that's not allowed these days, if you don't 'Join the Programme', you don't get the patches on the NHS. And they cost more than baccy!
OH has tried with the patches twice; First time on his own (Aaaaaarrrrrrgh!) - lasted four months and was unbearable. Second time with GP support, which was worse because he takes the support as 'nagging' and he lasted about a month.
Both times he had awful nightmares, even though he was on the low patches, and only wore them during the day.
He won't give up the booze either.
Or re-runs of Top Gear on Dave, or re-runs of Dr.Who.
I guess he's just the addicted kind!

It's a shame you live so far away Maureen - I love decorating!
Good luck with the rest of it, but make the Spain trip longer than just a long weekend. I have my Sister, a friend, and an uncle in Spain, and if ever I go and visit I make it a short trip and it's never enough!
I don't live to far from you I reckon, (Cambs/Suffolk/Essex borders) you are welcome to wield a paintbrush round mine anytime!!!!!
1. failed last years resolution so will be carrying on trying. (quit nailbiting)
2. Get jobs around the house finished and carry on with decluttering.
3 be happy
Yup, I reckon you're about 20 minutes away. I do get to Haverhill sometimes, so beware! (I'm a messy decorator, and I usually end up coated in paint.)
I finally quit nail-biting several years ago - it's so easy. Buy those acrylic ones that stick on with super-glue. I've got short square hands, but with my 'nails' on they look great, and I get compliments all the time. Even from people who've spent a fortune in the nail parlour!
A good pair of gardening gloves, and they usually survive a day's gardening, and if they don't, there's no waiting weeks for one to grow back, just stick on a new one. I've been wearing them about ten years now.

cold turkey works for me, can't stand all that nagging from some practice nurse being all superior, and a damn doctor who is asking me 20 questions before dishing out patches, when i have SEEN him smoking outside!!!!
do NOT ask me how i am coping, its bloomin obvious...................if i haven't had one i am coping, even if i am the angriest person alive! snappier than a snappin turtle i will be for a week. after that is pure willpower.
you are right though, the giving up is easy, its the not starting again is hard.
The Government wants us to stop smoking so I WONT
The Government wants us to drink less so I WONT
If I want to change anything in my life I don't need a new year as an excuse.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

I gave up 2 years ago, if i had a really bad craving i had a lollipop instead of a fag - It worked, i'd never touch a cigarette again cause i feel so much better. You're right about the nagging though, I told all my family never to talk about it or else
my resolutions are ...... i aint giving up smoking, till i can be bothered
i will get very drunk at least once this year
i shall endeavour to eat at least one real meal a day in between choccie bars
Go for it Lynda I dislike(oh all right hate)being forced to do anything.
I have smoked since I was 16(1 or 2 short breaks)& have drunk since the age of 13.
I'm still breathing(I think)& I'm not an alcoholic.
