i hate my rabbit ........ she's been doing much better lately, but she just sat watching as i put her food in, timing it just perfect, as i went to take my hand out ....... launched herself ...... and ripped a big chunk out of my hand with her teeth. ...... currently i have a big wad of cotton wool attached to my hand with sellotape, cos i've run out of plasters...... and theres blood everywhere..... i rather fancy a rabbit stew ...... it's gonna be dinner ..... grrrrrrrrrrr.

i've had grumpy rabbits before, but this one just is horrible ..... i feel bad for her, cos she is just miserable, and i'm sick of getting bitten, i've done all the usual things but i've had enough, i cant let someone else have her, especially a pet shop, where theres kids....she'd eat em all

Welding gloves? They can withstand anything - might be worth getting some. If not maybe it would be kinder to everyone involved to put her out of her misery. have you checked that she isn't hurt or something and that's why she's aggressive? A friend of mine's rabbit had a broken leg and that made her v grumpy.

neutering might calm her down, and a rabbit friend might do also.
sorry hun , but i don't think you should top her just cos she is bad tempered.
she obviously has a problem with being handled, so try not to wherever possible, push her food in when she is in the sleeping compartment, or, rig up a drop door to the sleeping compartment so you can shut her it there whilst you clean and do food and water?Last edited by BrideXIII; 28-12-2008, 02:20 PM.Vive Le Revolution!!!'Lets just stick it in, and see what happens?'Cigarette FREE since 07-01-09

If it was a dog gotten to the point of savaging you every time you went near it, euthanising it would be the only option!
If you really can't cope with it anymore, I'd either get it to the vets and have it injected, or ring the RSPCA and ask them to send an inspector to do it.
I did find an article about it if you want a peruse.

i was wondering about maybe her being in pain, but i do actually think she's just evil lol ..... dogs going to the vets in the new year, so i might drag her along too, she does seem pretty healthy, ...... i'm just fed up of getting bitten ...... its gonna take weeks for the missing chunk of hand to grow back where she ripped it off, and it really really hurts........ oh and she does it when she's not in the hutch either ...... doesn't help that the hutch front doesn't lift up and theres a stoopid little door in the mesh. that's only just big enough for the bowl to go in
she's scary
i so wanted her to live in the house, maybe she'll be ok living outside with the chooks, and get her a friend too?? guess then i don't need to handle her.
i'm ok for tetanus jabs, had one when i was bathing the cat, and he chewed through my thumb

Not been a prob for me, when I had one he used to sit on my shoulder and nibble my hair - think he thought it was straw!

It's a pity it's not spring, she might be a lot happier outdoors. But if she's not acclimatised, I think she'd struggle with the cold. Have you tried giving her something hard to knaw on, like a big chunk of tree?! Mine used to chew the hutch unless it had something else, p'rhaps yours is substituting you for a lump of wood...??!!
Anyhoo, I'd try ringing the local RSPCA number, and ask if the inspector can call in. They can put an animal quietly to sleep if you sign it over to them, and they don't ask for payment (or they didn't used to?) just a donation.
