That's a bloody good idea counting the ones you haven't had!! I was a really heavy almost chain-smoker of at least 20 a day, so I haven't had 80 (at least!) Wow, that really does make me feel good. I'm not buying any and I haven't got any in the house still (friend has though!)

i used to do at least 20 maybe double on an insomnia nite, so average about 30 a day, i am down to two, which i have two puffs from and let go out then have another puff or two later.

I am hoping that the habit is being broken and all i have to do is cope with the addiction, and as sarz is sending me the inhilator, that should help with that

            • as I mentioned on another thread on here I gave up June 11th 1979, I am a John wayne fan and when he sadly died age 72 on that day with lung cancer i threw my fags away as did Lyn, I didn,t tell anyone, it took over a week before anyone noticed, when I was offered a ciggy I would say no thanks, not now thanks ive packed up when i needed one I would think of the Duke, its hard at first, don,t think of how much you are saving, Its your life you are saving, its the best thing I ever did, and the last greatest thing John Wayne did... (not dying).... but making me stop. god bless him so DON,T GIVE UP GIVING UP. And its great to say no thanks I don,t smoke.

you are so right firstimer, i did wonder whether to own up, not cos i am not honest, but cos i didn't want to make other people think it was ok to lapse, then i figured well maybe they have and don't want to own up either, and if we are going to do it we should be honest?

it is NOT a competition, unless a competition is what it takes for you to do it, if it is 'you' whoever you may be, are in the lead, we have to catch up, if not then you are in good company , cos i am only human, but i will keep trying.

we are all doing our best, and encouraging each other, thats got to help surely?

Speaking from experience, that 'just one' will lead to two, and before you know where you are you will be back where you started from. The agony having been 'all for nothing'.

Try to stick with it. I know it's agony, but it does get easier, honest.

                          • We're all doing brill!!! Yes, some of us have had tiny lapses or hiccups, but we're all different and we're all doing it for ourselves and in our own way. This time next week I bet we're all still saying "I'm still off the fags"

It's not a competition because in a competition there's only 1 winner, here we're all winners aren't we. I'm doing it because I can't afford to waste that amount of money any more, because I'm fed up of coughing, because I don't like standing outside in the freezing cold when I go to friends or family to "have a fix", because I don't like the smell, and because I want to say to the doubters in my family "Yes, I did do it"

Thanks for your support everybody, you've all still got mine too xxx
WELL DONE ON GETTING TO THE END OF DAY 4

yeah it does, thing is it just makes you want another one

as for one leading to two, yes that's a danger too, if you have them, at some point you just have to say no, no more, and i am clearly not there yet, i am however not smoking 30 a day, so nya nya, 5 is better than ten, 2 is better than 30, none would be perfect and i will get there, in my own time, and in my own way
