      • Doing good Feeling a bit better as regards the Mum-flu, managed to do my Self Assessment Tax return online without reaching for a fag Unblocked the sink (had to take the u-bend to bits after "someone" (not me!) poured fat down the plughole where it set into a solid impenetrable disc that not even 2 bottles of drain unblocker would shift) and enjoyed watching the chooks peck around in the snowy sunshine. Throat's a bit "gaggy" now though, but it will pass once I've had a cuppa and a sandwich

        • Bride, your inhalator doofies are in the hands of the Royal Mail now; I've stuck plenty of stamps on and put FIRST CLASS on it really big, so hope it'll be with you in the morning.

Well done all of you, you're doing great

welcome to the grinding your teeth club.

and yes it does get easier, once the nicotine is out of your system its the habit you have to break.

nicotine replacement like patches and inhilators allow you to do it the other way round, break the habit, then deal with the addiction later, which is the easier part.

Course you can join in! The more the merrier. Just 1 thing though, don't go beating yourself up if you have a little lapse or hiccup in the first day or so, just tell yourself you're going to be stronger next time (oooooooooooo hark at me, lecturing!! and I said I wouldn't sorry folks) What works for 1 might not work for another, so we're all just trying our best and see what happens. Yes, I think it does get easier, once the nicotine is out of your system, it's then just the habit to break, and I think for me that's the hardest bit - not reaching for a ciggie when I used to

Good luck, and think of the nice treat you can promise yourself in a week or two

                    • Go on folks, stick with it and keep being impressed with every little morsel of progress you make. Any cigarette less than normal is good, any day without them is better.

I went through it exactly two years ago and it's not easy. But it's doable and you guys are doing it. WELL DONE YOU!!!!!
                      Cheers

                      • I went to visit a friend today. He's just been allowed home after 8 days in Hospital, having had a suspected heart attack on the Saturday after Christmas. He has smoked at least 40 a day for the last 50 years, and the Hospital staff told him 'No more.'

When we went to visit him in Hospital last week, he was 'Dying for a Fag' (his words) and couldn't wait to get home to have one. Well, imagine my surprise today, to find out he hasn't had one! How good is he?

His Wife sneaks outside in the cold to have one, so he doesn't see, but she's cutting down too. I don't expect either of them to succeed, as they've both tried several times before, and are real addicts. And I know it's not just the Cigarettes that have contributed to his current health issues, but I'm so pleased that he's making the effort and giving it a go.

Dunno why I've told you this, it isn't meant as a nag or anything - I don't do that.

BTW The poor sod's been told no more Curry/Chinese either!

                          • good going FT, don't give in if you can possibly avoid it, and definitely don't buy ten, that's nine more possible lapses, far better to scrounge one!

But you aren't going to cos you are strong!!!!

                              • What you going to put in your propagator? I've been re-sorting out my seeds again this evening, just to keep my hands busy. The plan for tomorrow is to clear some space in the conservatory, sow some more seeds in make-shift propagators and hope for the best. Well done on choosing the propagator instead of the fags. If it's not too icy tomorrow, do you fancy a coffee and a natter? I'll come over to yours or you come here. Anyone else is welcome to drop in here for coffee (or tea) too - just don't bring any ciggies
