you are more than welcome to join in furball, just excuse us without the patches, and those that like to taunt for fun, truth is there are several more than are posting trying to give up, cos they don't want to risk failing publically, and that's fair too, but good for you stating your intention.

oh and we dont do the blame game if you have a lapse either

Maureen and Bride, it really really will get a little easier over the next few days, just keep telling yourself this is a choice i am making, no one is depriving me of a cigarette I'm making the choices here.

Working for me so far (day18) and yes i do want a smoke but I'm having longer period without thinking about smoking.

Lots of luck to you both.

Thankyou, my daughter used to smoke more than 20 a day and gave up 4 years ago 2 weeks before christmas. She went out to all the christmas parties still had her usual drinks and never has a cig. Now thats willpower, she doesn't preech though as she said it was hard. I find if i have a packet of cigs unopened in the house tucked away on top of a wardrobe the craving isn't as bad because i don't get the panic of oh my god iv'e no cigs, it gives me the edge of, i could have a cig but i choose not to. Might not feel the same way tomorrow though we will have to wait and see. Youngest son has been nagging me for weeks to give up and he hasn't even bl**dy noticed i've not had one, typical.

i have a 1/4 ounce of tobacco tucked away too, you are right, you can avoid it better if it's there in front of you, no excuse to buy any if you have some rotting away

slap said son round the head, my kids have been nagging me for months too, now i am making damned sure they are paying the price alongside me gotta be some perks to my suffering

                              • Well done to those who have made it through the first day .
Now you have to face it all again tomorrow - but this time you can tell yourself that you have done it once and you know you can do it again.
It will get a little easier.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.
