  • Well done you guys You're nearly past the first hurdle - the first 2 days. A big (((hug))) from me.

I realised last night that since I was in hospital, I'm only having about 5 a day.... Maybe I'm closer to quitting than I thought?

It's up to you Sarz, we'll support you if you need it and we won't condemn you if you decide you're ok with 5 a day. Whatever, I'll still be your friend

        • Hi all!

Just catching up with you FFers or should that be Heifers? Er, no, maybe not.

Glad to see you're all persevering - well done.

Am I the only Grape 'on the waggon?' If so, I'll adopt this thread for moral support, as there's no point starting another thread just for me.

OH sat down with a beer or two last night, then finished a bottle of wine. I had water - bl**dy water! It didn't kill me either.

Would've loved a glass of vino though, or a G & T, but I could still remember the heartburn/indigestion from the day before, so was a good girl instead.

I've been trying to think of something to replace the booze with, but I'm trying to lose weight, so that makes it difficult.

          Ho hum!

          • I'd love to be able to suggest a substitute for you, but I can't think of anything. Well done on getting this far with us though, if it's half as bad for you on the wagon as it is for us FF-ers, then you've certainly got all my sympathy and support.

I've been sucking a lollipop this morning, partly to soothe my sore throat, and partly for something to do, now I've got a sore tongue!!! I'm full of complaints aren't I. I'll also be complaining next week that I can't find anything to fit me 'cos of the weight I'm putting on. Apparently people will put on half a stone when they stop smoking whether they use a food substitute or not, and you don't just lose that if you start smoking again either! Roll on some nice weather so I can dig and stuff at the lottie

            • Hi just popped in to say well done, still not had one, spent the morning trying to catch my 3 chooks to clip their flight feathers, clipped one but obviously not enough as she flew into next doors garden. They are now hiding under decking laughing at me as they know i cant crawl under there. My large cat expert mouser and bird catcher nearly had kittens ( and he's a boy)this morning when he went outside and saw them freeranging, even cocker spaniel is scared of them. Could you substitute the wine for the grape drink that children can drink not sure what its called, shloer? or something similar, well done anyway to all those giving up your vices whatever they are.

              • Gardening always makes me lose the the weight i put on over winter, might be because i am usually moving a lot of walling stone, this year its just digging and building raised beds but no doubt i will think of something else that will need doing. No lotties near enough to me, nearest one about 3 miles away and i can't drive yet. really wish we had one local.

On the odd occasions that I decide to stop drinking alcohol, I always drink low calorie tonic water - I can sort of kidd myself that there's gin in it and it is a good long drink. Otherwise many supermarkets these days do a tasty line in flavoured sparkling water that doesn't have too many calories (if any)

Good luck to you - keep it up.

                      • Well done to you all. The further you get, the more you have to keep going, so as not to waste the efforts so far. Hope it gets easier soon. Can't be good with a mum-flu head on too.

                        • just poppin in to give Maureen a good glaring at, just cos she is starting to feel a bit better flu wise and fancying a smoke.

don't do it hun, you can get past it.

I don't find eating a very good substitute, cos it's my after food ciggie that's the hardest one to give up. might try the lollipops though.

                            • I've had the most horrendous chest infections in the past and still managed a few drags!! Stoooopid woman me. Think licquorice root might be a good idea, but that's something else I haven't got and I'm not going out shopping until I've completely run out of food! So, Belle, we're going to have a slap-up lunch as a reward then and not just a £3.95 carvery at Radford Bank? Think we'll have to start planning on where we're going cos I'm nearly up to £9 saved now
