Tonight I went to see a very special little boy. His name is Oliver, and he is a 10 month old Boxer, who is also completely deaf.
He was collected by Boxer Dog Resuce Northern England just before Christmas. He is lucky to still be here.
Here is Oliver
These pictures were taken by the rescue after he'd been in the vets for a week. I can't imagine what state he was in when he was handed to the vets
The details are sketchy, but suffice it to say that he is malnourished, was covered in urine stains and pressure sores and very hand shy.
Tonight I drove to the place where Oliver is staying to take him a fleece coat to wear, a squashy bed and some money towards his food (donations from the collection box in my sisters pet shop) and some biscuits etc for their other rescue dogs. Oliver can be picked up with one hand. He weighs the same as my youngest Boxer did when he was about 3 months old.
Here is Oliver tonight in his new fleece
He is an absolute sweetie. He came and played ball with me, let me tickle him all over and came and sat on my knee on the sofa and went to sleep.
My heart is broken to see a baby Boxer in this state. I drove home crying, and am sat writing this crying. I have seen a good few rescue dogs, but have never met one who is still so happy and cheerful after being starved before being a year old.
