Are there any Grapes living in the US?

This may be a long shot, but I am looking for a Grape who lives in the US or Canada who might be interested in a posting exchange for products only available in our respective countries.

I have come across loads of fantastic gardening and seed sites but many of the shops don't ship internationally or charge extortionate postage costs. I'm sure it must be the same for many people across the pond with stuff from the UK.

The OH suggested the idea - he builds model radio controlled boats and the sail making equipment he uses is only available in Australia.

He has a mate on his boat forum who's address he gets the order sent to, who then forwards it to the UK at cost and he does the same for his friend with stuff from here. They re-imburse each other through paypal.

You need to be very careful over seeds going to Canada and it will probably be the same to the USA as well.

My Mother got into a lot of trouble over a packet of seeds she was taking in for my sister. The Canadian Customs threatened to have her passport marked as an undesirable.

It is because they are such big wheat producers and they don't want certain plants establishing themselves in their country.

You also should consider that we have a very different climate to the States ... things that grow well here won't necessarily do well there, and vice versa.

Have you tried ebay? If you change the search settings it comes up with seeds listed in the US which are 'available to' the UK. I had tomato, pepper and chilli seeds that way last year.

Also it depends what you're after. For instance giant pumpkin seeds are available from US growers via forums like this. All they ask is you send a bubble - a sae with bubble wrap padding!
