Flat coke, i try and pour a large glass before i go out so it looses all the fizz and have it in the morning, works every time.
A good brisk walk also works wonders.
Life isnt about surviving the storm.....But learning to dance in the rain.
when i did drink, i always drank a pint of water before bed, then in the morning a pint of fresh orange, or a pint of coke, and the rest of last nights curry (or anything with chilli in)
now when i drink, i still try to do all that, but i usually end up puking cos i'm not good at stopping once i get started lol ....... but i am a very happy drunk and love everyone.
I just dont get hair of the dog...your just topping up the old alcohol level thus leaving you further over the limit the next day?
When you drink alcohol, your blood absorbs it and over a period of time your brain gradually adjusts to it. As you drink more and more, your body continues to adjust gradually. However when you stop drinking, the alcohol is reduced, but your brain is still used to compensating for the alcohol. this means that it is now far more sensitive than it usually is (because alcohol has an anesthetic effect) and this is why you get a hagover!
The theory behind the "hair of the dog" is that it helps your brain adjust to the reduction in alcohol - and should help your headache. Either that or you just get drunk again!!
I guess tha hair of the dog isn't about being over the limit - its just about trying to make you feel better
a pint of water
a glass of orange juice
a mug of extremely strong coffee
a bacon butty with tommy k and some scrambled eggs
a second cup of coffee (not so strong, we discovered the value of spoons at this point)
a bit more bacon
a clementine
a glass of apple juice
this was over a 2 hour period. i have to say i felt pretty good- my hangovers dont hit with full force till mid afternoon as im probably still half cut when i wake up. i definately find feeding a hangover helps!
my problem is i still dont know how much i drank last night, its all very blurred which is very unlike me. i think perhaps the cocktail of medication and drugs i had taken is the reason i was hit so hard by my drinking, i dont think i drank as much as i have in the past! im not a massive drinker -i even used to be t total
Making bacon butties and scrambled eggs for 10 on a hangover is a mean feat!
I try not to drink to the level where I would expect a hangover the next day. As a rule if I am having a few sherberts I'll make sure I drink plenty of water to re-hydrate myself before bed.
It's only when you go out sober and watch people drinking that you realise what an @rse people can look/behave.
Drinking to get drunk does seem a bit daft dunnit? It's the people that down a bottle of whatever before they go out that have me confused.
see now i don't really like alcohol, it's usually a case of what tastes least bad, though blue wkd taste yummy ..... till they come back up ....... if i'm gonna drink, it's cos i want to get drunk, if i'm only gonna have a couple, i might as well have a cuppa ..... and yup, i usually make an a**e of myself, but as i only drink about once or occasionally twice a year, it's fine by me (birthday and xmas, though i didn't have any alcohol this year, i had chickens to feed lol)
oh and rob and his mates usually have a drink before they go out, if they are going on a bender, cos it's cheaper to drink at home, and be jolly, then they only need to top up the alcohol quota in the pub (and of course i never did that when i was younger lol)
Good beer? Wayne. This is my local.
