Hi I have just been listening to a news story on the radio about a man who owns a shop and decided to trust his customers on Boxing day. He had given all his staff Boxing day as a holiday and then worried that his customers might not be able to buy the things they needed. So he decided to leave the shop open and asked people to put the right mony in a tin. When he went in the next day the tin was full of money and people had left notes and messages. He said that the only thing he would do differently was he would leave them a calculator to make it easier for them as many had done long sums. It is really nice to hear a story like that for a change. It shows trust works....... would you do it?

I noticed one thing it was a small(ish) village in the back of beyond, & not in a large town or city. It was still nice to see there are good honest people about though.

I think that's an uplifting story.
With my 'saddened' hat on....I doubt they'll be able to do it again next year as someone ( an outsider) will be aware of the opportunity to spoil it all .

That's lovely. Kinda restores a little faith in human nature. Not that I have a lot.
You wouldn't try that in Essex. You'd go back next day to find no supplies, no shelving, no light bulbs, or till. They'd probably have removed the doors and windows too!

I agree Glutton, there are only some places you can do sommat like that, was a lovely story though and he took nearly £200 that day but I do think next year it would be wise for him to have someone there
