  • Time Capsule

hey there, we wanted to share this with you. My children and I have been preparing a time capsule which we have buried today, very deep down on the lottie. We put in, info about our area, newspapers, other bits and pieces..... We hope that in many, many years to come, someone will come across it and see what we buried. Has anyone else done/thought of doing something like this?
Dont worry about tomorrow, live for today

    What a nice idea

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Good job you didn't bury it in NOG's plot!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

What a lovely idea, bet it took ages to decide what to put in and what to leave out! Have they dug up the Blue Peter capsule yet?

I lived in the house where I was born until I was 18, during that time we had many, many little burials in the small back garden (from goldfish, through hamsters and budgies to rabbits and cat and dog, including one or two invertebrates - well even a beetle derserves a burial) we always wondered what some future archeologist would make of it - 'evidently some primitive religions sacrifice site'. At least when they find your capsule they will know there was intelligent life there once

We have done one in our home. The original kitchen had a ceramic soap holder that was recessed a brick deep. We had the whole wall dot and dabbed with new plaster board but before hand put in a box containing.

                some coins
A copy of the Leicester Mercury
                A letter

It has been hidden now for 6 years and is nestled in the brickwork, behind plaster, in front of it is a dishwasher of all things.

What a great idea. I use to dream of finding something like that when I was a kid and we moved house!

I hope you didn't bury it too deep. Heaven knows what anachronisms may be puzzling the finders?
Sent from my pc cos I don't have an i-phone.

Its a nice thing to do.........my inlaws did one in 1959 when they lived in Aylesbury and it was found about a year ago, when the people who own the house started expanding, it was in a local rag i think........thats what got me thinking.

When we decorated the lounge we took the wall paper off right down to the original wall and on it was written first decorated by xxxx and the date was 1911. We have done the same sort of thing in the dinning room kids names and height that was quite a few years ago and the boys are all over 20 yrs now and over 6ft tall will be interesting when we redecorate.
