On the B list?

Just suppose a year ago, you were asked to keep a certain date this year free. You hear nothing else, so forget about it. Then, out of the blue, you get an invitation to a function on this reserved date. However, then you find out that the reason you got an invite is that they had others drop out, so now they have space to invite you. (It will involve an overnight stay which you will need to arrange at your own expense).

Would you
a) accept gracefully and go along
b) make up some excuse as to why you cannot make it
c) tell them what they can do with their invite

then again how much do you want to go? if there are other people going that you want to see, go, THEN tell em how much being second choice peeved you.

is the original thing still happening?? if not, then it would depend how much i wanted the night out what decision i made, if i didn't want to go, i'd tell em to shove it, if the first thing is on, then i'd go to that, so before making a decision find out whats happening with the original date

Apparently they asked all the possibles to keep the date free, then selected their first choices! I think I will be choosing B, because although I would love to do C, it would upset a lot of innocent people.

So what if your were on a B list, they still asked you.

you can always go to the event and whilst there ask them why you where 2nd choice, but would you be prepared for the answer what ever it was.

When I was 17 my boss at work invited me and the other Office Junior to her wedding as two family member's dropped out. She was up front about it and we were happy to go.
Another time though, a good friend of mine had a wedding and didn't invite me and my husband (I was shocked, I thought we would be invited - when she said 'it will be a small wedding' I didn't think WE wouldn't be going!!). Anyway I took it on the chin and didn't let her know I was a bit peeved, I wished her a lovely day etc.... Two weeks before the wedding she rang to say that her Aunt and Uncle had dropped out and would we like to go, she actually moaned that the money was already spent. I'm afraid I said no we couldn't as we had another wedding to go to. That was a lie but there was NO WAY I was going to be 'plan B'.... everyone would have known too!!

It depends on who else was going and if I wanted to see anyone else that desperately. But, that's probably because I live miles away from chums and although it would be good to see some, I can take or leave others.
