I would pretend that I was really excited and keep phoning with questions about what to take and where to meet.
Then not go, then if they mentioned it pretend you know nothing of it and never had.My phone has more Processing power than the Computers NASA used to fake the Moon Landings

Just a thought...
My Sister had to invite a load of our Parents' friends to her Wedding, and as they couldn't afford a bigger 'do' she had to cross people of the list that she had originally wanted to invite. It was a kind of trade-off with our folks who were paying for it all.
Perhaps your friend was in a similar situation. It's not until you find out the actual cost for an event, that you realise what you can and can't afford.
Like I said, just a thoughtX

This happened to my daughter but we are talking about a 9/10 year old at the time. A friend of hers has always been invited to her birthday partys so I was gutted for her when friends mum asked if she could go to her daughters party as someone else had dropped out. I wanted to say something but kept quiet as it would have upset my daughter and I asked her what she wanted to do. She went but was sick at the party haha.Gardening ..... begins with daybreak

It's just that he let slip my sister had already booked a room at a hotel close by, but he wasn't sure there would be any places left, so I suppose I was having a bit of a hissy fit after I put the phone down. Not a good idea when on the 'vine
OH has just pointed out that I might not be fit for the 200 mile drive anyway, either as passenger or driver with the problem still unresolved with my neck, and as he's not inclined to drive....Last edited by BarleySugar; 04-01-2009, 10:43 PM.I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Glutton 4... this is SO going to be a problem in our family next year. My neice is getting married and my sister and hubby will be paying. There will be fireworks and there will be tears. Its a difficult one. On the one hand it's 'your' wedding but on the other hand when mum and dad are paying, and they see it as a 'family and friends' 'do', and their idea of who is 'family and friends' is often at odds with the bride's. The poor groom, if he's a wise man just stays RIGHT out of it.

No presents, but no expense and no arguments. I have to say, no regrets either. All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

When my niece got married the bride and groom were paying for the wedding so they got to choose who to invite and I must admit they were very good at inviting some of both sets of parents long standing friends.Gardening ..... begins with daybreak

i can't be first choice all the time
If it interested me I'd go - i'm not precious enough to worry about being second choice.
My partners been married before. Big deal - doesn't make me feel insignficant just cos i was her 2nd (or maybe even 8th) choice
