    Ha!!

We spent 9 weeks decorating our UK home- ready for sale or rental...came over here...and started again ( well I did cos my OH started his job!)...

Best way for one job not to lead to another piglet- is to break yr foot ( like I did!) EvRYTHING comes to an almost standstill!!!

...and yep- paint is VERY expensive- but remember UK paint has a much better selection of colours and types- and is in fact cheaper than over here( and places like B&Q over here tend to close at 5pm and Sat and Sun and Mon- variable depending on location!)

Bet your house looks lovely now piglet ( the Mrs isn't nesting is she?????)

      Happy 6000 post Nicos! x

We started 'doing' our house about three years and finished at the height of my 'nesting' thing with baby girl a year ago. Poor Mr R was coming home from work, and then on his lickle knees for hours sanding floors (rotten job I know). 'Tis true that by the time you finish one part of house, something else needs doing...

And nice paint is madly expensive... we might as well have had our salaries paid directly to B&Q...

I'm afraid I'll have to STRONGLY disagree with you there Sarah...

          Thanks! ...hadn't noticed!

We've got several walls which are made from thick blocks of a sort of paster ( with insulation...and mice...between them and the thick granite walls)
Clearly these must of had a skim of some sort of plaster which has set like concrete and had hessian pressed into it before it set.
These have been painted over the years, and when we came to repaint it, you've almost got to manually paint inside every single tiny, little rectangle- otherwise the previous coat colour shows through!!!

Nesting, As I only married the old girl for her pension (she is 15 years old than me to the day and I am 40) hopefully all thoughts of that are well in the past.

Most of the house does look lovely, trouble is were part way through converting the loft, the bathroom needs re-tiling around the bath / shower and the master bedrooms cupbards are to be ripped out and redone.

                Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Oh yes, one good job show up the old stuff. It went on and on. Started with the study which made the landing look shabby so that, the hall and stairs had to be done too. Then the only room we hadn't really tackled was the spare room. So we did that. THEN the boiler was done, living room radiator moved and the dining room and living rooms had oak flooring put down - finished the weekend before Christmas. Only thing we didn't touch was kitchen and bathrooms - done about 5 years back. That's why, although he offered to make me a chicken house I decided that he needed a rest - and I didn't need to wait another year for me hens! Just sent an order off for a house and automatic pop-hole opener. Now, he wouldn't have made THAT!

We have *almost* finished the downstairs ope plan conversion, just the cornicing of the kitchen and side panels to go on. OH has a builder coming tonight to quote for the next project (garage conversion to lounge and build over garage to create me a bedroom big enough for a wardrobe - not got one at present), and then he orders the loo and sink to do the downstairs loo as well.

Mind you I am not comlpaining as we bought the house to do it up as we wished. And it's the whole omlette and eggs thing. Shame I can't stand mess!...

I hope it's not gone as far as - "oh - the carpets look bad now...and the curtains...oh , and the sofa, and......"

I know without a shadow of a doubt that you would be up here like a shot Paulie and for that I am most grateful. However, I also know you are working every weekend and are saving like mad for your impending move to France and to pull you away just would not be fair, especially as I am laid off till the 12th and would only be twiddling my thumbs.

Dont worrit though, you can come back over from France for a busmans holiday and do another room for us.

At last, I have finished the spindles. Piglette is painting walls and I am cooking dinner. Hopefully I will make a start on the floor next week and then the skirting can go on.

And me!! Hate artex and woodchip with a passion.
My hallway is an embarrassment so decided to just get on with it. Starting with sanding all the old gloss off the woodwork. Don't care how long it takes, I'm determined to have it finished before the year is out!
