Following on from all this, just seen an ad on UKTV food for a programme staring James Martin - sort of growing his own! It didn't give programme dates or times though! maybe the boy is learning! (he's still pretty cute though!) DDL

Is it because he is a Yorkshireman? After all who has pudden with the roast???

James definitely does it for me and I quite like Phil Vickery.
personally I'm not keen on beetroot at all, but quite like the baby leaves in salad (bought I'm afraid as I won't grow the stuff!)

Actually Waffler, I hated beetroot until I grew it this year. The taste of the real thing is lovely! (I never thought I'd say that!). I hate the stuff in jars with vinegar! The taste is as different as say, fresh and tinned salmon, or fresh and tinned pineapple - no contest! DDL

Had always avoided until I got given some a few weeks ago, thought I might as well try it so roasted it with some other veg and served it up with some salmon. Amazed by what I had been missing, it was gorgeous - still not going near the stuff in jars though.
