Here too I have to say tis lovely, not just the cuckoo clock makers that are nice ya know.
My little Renault 5 hasnt had a lock on it since I lost the keys about a year ago, and I drive it everywhere no problems. I rarely lock the doors of the house when I go out, and when I go into the local village everyone gives a bonjour.
I have no doubts there are places like that in the UK still, just seems in my small experiences that certainly here in France it seems to be more common.
