Cripes honey, dont do that!! Picked myself up off the floor, checked blood pressure has calmed down, and now drinking hot sweet tea as welL!! Now that I'm over the shock and seen the photos to prove to myself the chicks are fine, how are the remaining fish??
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

I read this and thought you meant the chicks, just so relieved that it's not.

I was worried about the chicks too, glad to see from the pics. that they're all healthy & very keen on posing for their portraits!
Does seem strange about the baby fish though, I used to have 'indoor' goldfish years ago & just used tap water for them & they were fine. Is it possible they got some kind of fish disease & changing the water was just a coincidence? My next door neighbour used to keep fish & he used to remove some of the 'babies' too & keep them in a tank in his shed to give them a fighting chance, don't know if he used tap water though & he's moved so can't ask him.

          Hi Lynda!

Sorry to hear your news as all the others have said I am also glad it was not the chicks!

It may just have been the shock of the clean out, a difference in water temperature, just a tiny difference can make all the difference especially with baby fish. It could be a difference in the HP balance of the water. There are liquids you can get from the pet shop to add to the water to take the chlorine out which will help with stress relief. All sorts of things can go wrong with fish keeping. Don't blame yourself It is sad but these things happen.

I used to keep tropical fish years ago, but once my kids started to grow up and I returned to full time work, I found I just did not have the time to keep them properly so as my fish died off, some at a ripe old age and others quite quickly I gave up restocking the tanks. My saddest loss was my Tiger Oscar, we called him Ozi! I had him for a few years he was only about 2 inches long when I bought him, including his tail! He ended up about 9-10 inches long, a few of my friends used to say they wanted to grill him and put him in a sandwich! Rotten lot

Thinking of you ,keep up the good work with the chicks, they are so sweet!

          All the best

for info the baby goldfish and shubunkins were tiny when i took em out of the pond i think in about august, there were 25 (have since given a few away) ..... all different sizes, from different litters, normally any babies get eaten by the big fish, so i thought i'd save these ones, as i have a bigger pond to go in when it's warmer...... obviously that hasn't worked lol .......

the big fish are still in the pond ....i saw one swimming today
I'm going to be a show-off here. fish don't have litters, they have spawnings. they're still babies though, whether it's from a litter, a clutch, a spawning or whatever. Like I said, just showing off cuz I can
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

What are you trying to do to us all, my heart sunk into my boots when I read the title

The first thing that came into my head was chicks and what on earth had you done to them

You have no idea how glad I am that I was wrong

I'm sad for you and the fish but phew am I happy it's not the chicks.
