My niece was born the night of the storm, always handy in a pub quiz as I can remember the date. Mind you, it always makes me laugh when people go on about it like it's the worst night ever for everybody, it only affected part of the country but as always when London is affected it's a much bigger issue. Funnily enough it wasn't even that breezy where I was but if you'd watched the news you'd never have known.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

The night of the big storm back in '87 I was at a conference at the Gatwick Hilton, me and a bunch of lads sat up drinking 'til about 5AM, but thanks to the triple glazing we never noticed a thing. After about 3 hours kip woke up a bit after 8 to find the hotel had no electricity and looking out of the window in my room there was a police van parked across the road. Everyone checking out that morning with no electric was an absolute nightmare. Ah, those were the days.
