We have done it both ways but *I much prefer the tunnel. We just drove the car on and were in France 30 minutes later.
Mind you we sailed over from Dublin Port to Holyhead, drove down to Folksetone, through the chanel tunnel with our car.
We left Dublin that morning at 7.30 and arrived in France at 6.30 the same day.
