Just been browsing on msn, and saw this;

I thought, ok, lets see what I could have instead of my 12 year old mondy.

What a stupid advert,, by having a title as it does I would have thought that the advert was aimed at the not so well off, how wrong could I have been !!, looks like I will be keeping mondy for some time yet.

Whilst on the subject, who has the oldest car on here ?, I will start the ball rolling with my 96 mondeo estate, oh and a 97 peugeot 306 that has been in the garage for the last year waiting for me to do it up for Mrs CM.

we have dudley our 1983 volvo, he is hardly used but well loved by the family we couldnt bear to part with him!!!! he comes out in the summer and hibernates in the winter!

The OH has an H reg Discovery, which I think was 1991? It doesn't like a cold start, and the sunroof leaks a bit, not too bad for it's age

Owww - now I wish I'd kept my 1970 Morris Minor and my SAAB 96 (built in 1973) beautiful car even though it was a 70's mustard brown.. Sadly the lack of garage led to me getting a thoroughly modern VW Golf which is great , sturdy , cheap to but not as much fun as the others
Always thought I was going to tip over in the Morris when taking a corner and how I laughed when the drivers seat broke through the rotting floor panel as I was driving to work one day.. Had quite a few adventures in that one
Am a sucker for old cars they just have such lovely lines, but that said a tad unpractical to keep safe.... until I get my ten car garage that is!

Oh yeah, well affordable them. Cheapest £9k and dearest £46k.
If I had £46k, I wouldn't buy a car with it...

My mondeo has really bitten the dust now, Mr H says they are indestructable so it must be my fault. It has:
Several welds and joins in the exhaust
Mysterious hole in air inlet so it burps
Stalls when cold in middle of road, then refuses to start
Unspecified oil leak
Numerous leaks to interior so terrible damp
Ditto for condensation on windscreen
To top it all no heater, blower only works on full blast. Therefore cold air, full force LOVELY

Went to see new car today. 1.2 Cleo. Its a tin can on wheels, no ooomph but might be able to afford number 1 son to go on insurance. I was so sure that by this stage in my life I would be driving sommat "sexy" Oh well....
Least I can get another car I guess

When I was employed (up to November 2008) I had a Skoda VRS (company car) Very New, Very Fast, Very Expensive, Very Unnecessary. Now I have a 1993 Discovery clean inside and out, carries all my tools, bags of feed etc. cost £850!
Why does everything have to be new and shiney to be appreciated

My OH is a Land Rover fan-series II.He says if there's something wrong with it he can fix it himself-low maintenance costs,historic vehicle-so road tax is 0.The oldest one he's got comes from 1958 or 1959.
The only one thing is-if you keep original engine they are very thirsty for fuel.

Yeah, but you can't beat a Landy! The Series motors are about the most versatile motors invented.

Hi - my previous car was a 1.2 Clio very nice to drive - v.comfortable and economical ... but had to be repaired after I blew the engine up for driving it too hard opps

i wouldn't care what it was as long as it runs and the insurance is cheap ....... i'm a car cowboys dream too, ....... have had loads of cars and never spent more than £100 on one with at least 6 months MOT left, then when it dies stick it on ebay for 1p and someone will buy it lol...... i did have a fiat 127 that i bought for £35 with 6 months tax, 10 months mot, and it lasted me 3 years with nothing more than a top up of oil now and again ....... cars don't impress me in case you hadn't noticed?? they are just to get from A-B.

If we can count lorries, we've got a 1943 AEC Matador. OH bought me a 1953 (I think) Triumph 1300. Runs fine, but needs a new gasket at the mo.

My regular car is a pile of poo. A 53 reg Fiesta. My exmoor pony has more horsepower than that thing. It does have a heated windscreen, though, which was handy these last few weeks!
