Have just seen my first scane(sp??) of geese fly over.
Is this early or has it been going on for a little while??

    Skein.
Not seen any so far this year, but many of them are all year round resident here on the Meres. Last year I counted one lot at over 200 individuals. The noise was awesome as they were less than fifty feet high over the garden.

Red legs have been here in small numbers for last fortnight but at their peak I will see in excess of three thousand every day as they spend the night at a nearby loch before setting off to graze each morning.

Nice one ugly gourd! They had a cull at a local pond a few weeks ago and I was given a Canada Goose. I was up to the eyes in blood and feathers as the weather was clammy at the time...quite an experience, but certainly worth it!
