  • Challenge Techies!

I finally admitted to needing a new mobile,(mine's been held together with duct tape for the last couple of years & it's just recently started to not be able to hold it's charge. So,anyway, popped to Asda & managed to get me a new one for £12.Nothing fancy,I've never seen the need for anything other than ability to make/accept calls & texts & tell me the time.....up until now!My old one had recordings the kiddies have made as ringtones & I didn't realise that it would make the slightest difference to me to not hear DS screaming Batman at me each time a new text came in....but it does!!So...(sorry for ramble!)Is there anyway I can transfer my old ringtones to my new phone?
If not,is there at the very least anyway I can record the old stuff from the old phone onto something so as to at least keep the memories??

Could you send the ringtone to the other phone as a text message? MultiMedia message? (You might have to borrow another SIM card to do it) Do the phones have Bluetooth or InfraRed?
Failing that, does the new phone have a "Record Sound" thing? If it does, just play it on the old phone, and press record on the new

I'll have to wait for Andi to get home to try sending it to new phone...although it came with a new SIM I'm keeping it in the pack just in case I decide to take it back.
The new phone really is just the basics...I never thought the old one was anything fancy, but at least it had a record function!
Bit soft getting attatched to a ringtone I know, but they were my babes!

Not soft. I have a couple of text messages which I've transferred from phone to phone for a few years now. I'd hate to lose them. But, I am a bit of a fiend for having an up to date phone I cancelled Sky rather than give up my phone contract & upgrades... Kids weren't happy, but hey, watchin TV is bad for you, right?!

Save ringtones to your simcard, then they should still be there when you start up new phone, otherwise send them to yourself.

So how would I do that? Will it work on a basic phone?

A lot of phones these days can be attached to a computer, via infra-red, bluetooth or a cable. Is this possible with the phones you have? It's a great way to back up stuff like photos, music and ringtones. What are makes and models of old & new phones?
