I had a look at the forecast for Friday and Saturday at Wisley

Metcheck - light snow on Friday, sun on Saturday
BBC - sleet on Friday, sun on Saturday
Accuweather - snow flurries on Friday, sun on Saturday

Now it obviously depends on how much snow people have around them and how the journey will be.

Could we have a vote please on whether to postpone for a couple of weeks until the weather is hopefully more settled. It will be very wet underfoot on Saturday if all the snow has melted I would think, but the journey is probably not going to be a problem for us as we haven't any snow now so I will go with whatever is decided.

Post Yay or Nay here. The majority carries, and we can always go again later in the year anyway.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Well, since OH only agrees to take time off once in a Blue Moon, I'm going regardless, so if the group trip is off, I'll still be there, but will probably go earlier, as I tend to spend whole days at places like this and REALLY want to see the Flutterbies.

So, if you do decide to postpone and people still want to say 'Gosh! Hello!', then send me a private message and I'll send you my mobile number!

There is a Grow Your Own weekend on the 7th-8th March, when they will be providing free entry to the garden, so if you wanted to postpone, perhaps this (the 7th) is an appropriate date? Sunday is a Members' day.

            Hi All

Obviously I would be happy with a raincheck and go another day.... Was gutted when I found out that I could not make it this weekend. Am not much of a typer but quick story is :

My Mum phoned on Monday Night asking if I could collect her at Heathrow on Saturday at 6:35 in morning... She's flying 12 000 miles round trip for a 2 and a half day visit... could not say no. My folks are emigrating to kangaroo land on the 19th of this month, she just realised that it'll be a while before she see's her grandaughter again so hence the trip. Emgergency scramble for holidays from work etc. Spare bed lent to friends OH in mad panic about house as mother-inlaw coming all three of us getting over our sniffles... part of the reason why I've been scarse the last week or so.

Weekend is forecast to have a wind chill factor of -5! I think I would enjoy it more if not freezing. So that makes me up for a raincheck really.

New date, would suit us (but NOT 2 weeks later as we will be elsewhere that weekend) March 7th has a lot going for it. Even if the snow all melts by Saturday, everything will be horribly soggy, snow-melt always makes thing wetter than normal rain.....
If lots still want to go, I'll try to make it.

I have been agonising all week about whether to chicken out or not. The weather forecasts have not been very helpful. Had thought to leave my final decision til Friday. However, I am liking the idea of a reschedule to March 7th. I know that whatever I decide will be wrong. I await to hear what others decide and will post my decision tomorrow evening.

Wisley Meet Postponed to 7th March, 11am.

Of the people who have posted. the majority are in favour of a re-schedule. I agree that with all the snow/rain that has been about it will be very wet underfoot, even if it is dry overhead. For some of you it is a first visit, you are coming quite a way, and it would be a shame if you could not appreciate the gardens by seeing them in decent conditions. By March the spring bulbs will be further forward and there will be more to see in the alpine house. as well as the fact it is the Grow your Own Weekend.
OH has said that if we go he's staying in the car while I go around because of the walking conditions, so that's sort of made my decision too. (He does suffer sciatica so doesn't want to risk slipping).

I am making an executive decision to postpone the Grape Wisley Meet to 7th March.
Grow Your Own Weekend seems very appropriate I will compile a new list of people who can make it on that day if you post or PM me.

Sounds like the best thing to do all round, having just seen the weather on the Beeb.

Hope everyone can still make it, count me and the OH in.

Yup, me too. It's snowing for England again here, and settling, so I think it would be daft to attempt the journey, even in a Landy.

I was really looking forward to it, and have never been to Wisley, so count me in for the re-scheduled date.
