Funnily enough yes Glutton even after 17 years!! Couldn't eat a whole one though.lolWhen weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

I spent 4 years training as a Radiographer many years ago. I wanted to go into Obs & Gynae ultrasound and I was blocked by the staff in our local x-ray dept. Why? I was XY chromosome paired! That's why! Same for my hopes of becoming a midwife some 16 years ago. But the politics at our local hospital have a reputation anyway...
We mustn't knock the NHS - it is the UK's largest employer and the service the medical and nursing staff (notice the direction here) provide with the meagre resources placed at their disposal is exemplary. I chose to leave the NHS when my career was blocked as I found this attitude bigoted and prejudiced. So maybe I am a bit bitter.
But the issue here is about lost medical records... The records are probably to be misplaced in some filing cabinet by some numpty who has no or little job satisfaction due to the constant cost cutting within the service. Too many managers sucking the system dry, too many cash driven targets and too many disillusioned staff (caused by the former 2 points) are the cause for most of the problems. The clinical staff do the best job in the world as do their support staff. My sympathies do go out to Gordon Allotmentlady, but please don't hold the medical staff responsible. They are overworked and underpaid.
BTW, technically, your med records are not your property. They are owned by the relevant health authority and governing body in the UK. You are entitiled to see copies of them, but only if the clinicians feel the content will not be harmful to you. Or them.Let's go diggin' dirt....
Big silver bird, come land low and slow
Cut your engines, cool your wings,
You've taken me home...
