If equality and unity is being preached left right and centre, why is anyone and everyone interviewed on the news start banging on about him or themselves being african american. surely they are americans or should I start calling myself cornish / welsh british???

only time will tell if he will be a great man or just an ex-president. but at least at the moment there is hope and very great expectation

Kernowyan, they are so very very proud of what the moment means. I have lived in the US and have seen very real racism when I lived in the South where i am sure there are many people who are not happy about today (though of course so many more who are). they are just so proud to see this day finally arrive I reckon.

I am enormously pleased for America today and like a sad git sat by myself in my living room and shed a tear, then stood and sang the star spangled banner to an audience of two cats!!! I am a saddo!

The one after is always worst than the one before, nothing gets better. It's been said, he's got to be better (Obama) than Bush as Bush was than Clinton, as Clinton was than George Bush Snr, then Reagan etc etc. Look at history. The only people who want more are the governments not the people. Sorry for the down note, but each to their own.

Why? Bill Clinton was a frequent member of the Bilderberg Group?
