As some of you will know I sold my beloved car last year and bought a "sensible" car in readiness for Bean and all the required paraphenalia.

I've never really liked the car I now have, but was happy to make the compromise in light of what I will gain in return. However, today we've discovered that the car I now have is probably not big enough for us anyway.

After much faffing with a certain baby products company (I won't go into it, but if anyone's looking to buy baby stuff pm me and I'll do you a favour) earlier today we finally got our babyseat base (easy click in/out base that means you don't have to faff/bend so much to fit the seat each time), you merely click it into place, and I fitted it behind my seat. However, once the babyseat is fixed onto the base my seat will not go back far enough for me to be able to drive. So, we fitted it behind the passenger seat, but this means that LadyWayne (or anyone else for that matter), can't really sit behind me.

The car we have is a Honda Accord, so not exactly small - but it would seem, still not big enough!

There are loads of different factors regarding the car we want (space, safety, comfort, style, performance, economy, practicality, cost etc etc - not necessarily in that order) so I won't go into them now, but suffice to say it took me weeks of research to get to the Accord, so now the hunt is on again...

All because cars are too small.

Have you tried getting on one of those things when you're 6ft 7?

Ok, I can imagine its not all full forever looking down on people. But hey, whilst you lose a back seat unless the person has exceedingly thin legs, at least you can reach the supermarket top shelf without stretching.

I have the opposite problem HW - took me ages to find a car that when I can reach the pedals, the steering wheel isn't stuck in my chest Had to go for a Ghia model in the end to get the seat adjustability (up,down,back,forward,tip,tilt & decent lumbar support). Thankfully I don't need to worry about baby seats anymore, just space for the smelly, hairy one (the dog, not the OH)

HeyWayne, I know you prefer estate cars to people carriers, but since buying my megane scenic I can't knock it, very roomy all round, loads of leg space and head space and elbow space. 2 kids and the things they just have to bring along (ok my 2 are older) but still have stepdtr in a full seat even though just took off infant straps so now using regular seatbelt. The boot is huge, have my lottie stuff in there all the time and can still fill it with shopping etc, would certainly fit in a pram etc plus lots more and I prefer to drive it than Mr C's car (sorry but a Seat Leon) as feels too low to the ground. As you know I am tall too 5' 10" Mr C a bit taller and whenever we are going any distance expecially with kids, we always take the scenic.

HW I'm 6 foot 4 and I have a 2006 Fiesta . Ok theres not much room behind me but the fiesta is just for me to go to work in - kids only in it about once a week . Mrs B has a Meriva and its the "family" car .Drivers seat can be adjusted down to give you more headroom and plenty of space in the back for bean . Try one you might be suprised just how much room there is.
