  • Well- for goodness sake!!!!!

We've had a heating engineer( nah..not M Gere!) here today suggesting different types of boilers/heat exchange units- and one of them which was recommended varied between 47 and 52decibells.
Now being an ordinary type of lass- I had no idea how loud that is-I googled it- and came up with this link!

    Floorscan Acoustics - Decibel Chart

Very useful cos you can point to the picture and it makes that noise level....well, that is if you have your volume set correctly
Needless to say I can turn mine up or down- so what is the 'normal' setting for the speakers on the computer??? ( mine gos up to 10=MAX) ???5????

So how can I compare that to a 'normal' gas boiler etc????

no idea, i always have mine up full, but i get your point, i fact i got it before i had finished reading.

i bet my speakers go louder than yours at '10' as well, then there is the onboard level, which can affect the speaker output.

you could go into a decent hifi shop and ask them what 52 decibels sounds like?

checked out the site though, wow thats hard to figure out on my speakers, but..............

listen to your fridge, because that is at roughly 40-50 decibels, so the boiler is slightly above that, which sounds about right to me, cos i cant hear my fridge from where i am sitting, and i can only just hear the boiler when it kicks in.

      process of elimination.
