Oohhh... please share! Anthony's Restuarant in Leeds (Michelin, etc.) does a duck canneloni in which the 'canneloni' is thinly sliced Soreen. He admits to buying it in as no-one can make it better. *Thunk* (the sound of a gauntlet being thrown down to Flum) - I think you should send him some of yours!

          Makes 2 medium loaves

          1 lb self raising flour
          2 level tsps bicarb
          4 tablespoons golden syrup
          4 tablespoons malt extract
          half pint milk
          2 eggs
          2 teacups raisins or sultanas

Sift flour and soda into a bowl
Melt syrup and malt in a pan with milk and add with beaten eggs to the flour.
          Stir in fruit.
Pour into greased tins (cake or bread) and bake in fairly hot oven - 400-375F, gas 5-6
          Cook for 40 - 50 mins

          Get out the butter!

If you want it sort of rubbery like the shop stuff, try cooling it in a teatowel. Keeps it moist.

                      Just what I was thinking!

I flick through the celeb gossip mags while in the shop and not buy them! Chocolate, wine, nice things, make up. I get such a buzz when I buy something new for the make up bag

Just edited the malt loaf recipe to add the cooking time - for people who don't do "Cook till done" type of things!

I try not to feel guilty about pleasure.

However, I'm supposed to cut back on fatty/salty foods due to cholestrerol issues. So I suppose I should feel guilty about the Friday night vindaloo I enjoy - especially when it arrives with a pool of ghee on top.

Marmite and cheese on toast is also a rarity these days.
