...or a flash of 'real' red lipstick... might go with the dress. Think of Zazen's ava-thingy!

When is the wedding, the dress looks quite summery to me but I wouldn't wear it for a winter or spring wedding. Re the hat thing, they don't suit everybody (believe me, I think they're great on other people but not on me, my head is too big) the last couple of weddings I've been to, hats have been pretty much out (unless you're the mother of the bride) but those feather bands / comb things have been everywhere. Bought a really nice one from Debenhams in the sale which was great fun and really dressed up a very simple outfit.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I think it looks really nice - I bought a similar one for my daughter's graduation last year and felt really good in it - very flattering (and the daughters approved!). I think it's reallly important that you feel nice in it - otherwise you just feel and look uncomfortable all day. I added a little black bolero because the weather wasn't so good - but you could also have a colourful one.

But how do you find it? I try on hats at every opportunity to find one that suits me, the only one so far was a huge traditionally shaped witches hat at halloween! Doesn't help that my head is stupidly tiny and they all fall over my eyes.

Finding hats - Go to a proper (ie expensive) hat shop, look in yellow pages. You will have to be strong, have the air of someone who is buying a hat for a special occasion and take advice. You don't actually need to buy one there, just make the most of the selection and expertise of the ladies there. Another possibility is to go to a hire shop, they always have a good selection. Another thing worth remembering is that you may not think it suits you because it is something you are not used to, strangers may disagree (and be more honest as they don't know you)
More people should wear hats, they are a statement and fun. It wasn't long ago when a lady wasn't properly dressed without one.

Looks very nice Tammy, I like NSB's idea of the red accessories too.

If the hats too big get a hat band. I always have to do this as I have a tiny head. It makes all the difference.
When i went to the wedding at the beginning of Jan this year there were about 160 guests but only one lady wore a hat. There were lots of guests wearing fascinators though.
Good luck whatever you decide, and enjoy the day.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
